Agree with Hannah. Playing “when’s the best moment in the submission window” will drive you mad. Fwiw I’m doing exactly the same thing right now: I’m gonna keep working on this one story til the last day of the window for a pub that might like it (and is open infrequently) and then they’re gonna get what they get.
