It's been a while but I remember the book Flipped told the same story from two character's perspectives. Also Ender's Game/ Ender's Shadow both follow the same events but from two different perspectives. Not exactly what you are saying, but maybe close? And I've definitely read some great novels that just swap character perspectives as you go, not reiterating the same events but moving forward in the story from different angles. In short, I don't think it's weird at all and definitely can make a great, nuanced story
