This is what I usually do if given the option during submission, because PDF keeps the document in tact in a way that Word doesn't, and there are no messy red/blue underlines to distract the reader. Of course if the work is accepted, I'm very happy to share a Word version of it for editorial purposes. But I'll reconsider this if readers/editors have a clear preference for Word.
