I will keep going; yes we must persist. I am also trying to keep in mind that contests are so competitive; I read for one once and I had to pick my top five out of 200 entries and there were five or six other fiction readers doing the same which meant there easily were over 1000 fiction entries alone for 1 prize winner. The odds are crazy and subjective.
