been very frustrated w submissions as a writer based in asia. i've been getting longlisted or told it went to later rounds in some really great mags but ultimately rejected, and it always feels like, "we know this is good writing but it's too asian/ethnic and in the end, we don't want to take the risk." i submit to these mags to double as search for an agent, and i know it's likely to get rejected, but ughhhh taking 300+ days is just disrespectful
