Uh, I don't teach writing but chemistry, and what I've noticed is that the AI mixes not only the citation style (APA, IEEE, Chicago, Vancouver, etc.) but the references themselves. The titles don't make sense, and sometimes the journals and issues where they were supposedly published are super random, don't make sense either.
