the question of the identity principle at the center of this (i.e., what does it mean when x does not equal x) is really compelling! i like it best when it’s made more prominent by your line breaks, and i think it might be fun to tease that out a bit more. especially in the stanza that starts “let’s try this,” i think that’s when that theme is made most explicit and i think if you could do something with the form to enact it, it might give the piece some more dimension
