There are a ton of options! A separate magazine-only PayPal business account is wise. It makes tracking payments so much easier and cleaner. For legal status across borders - there's no one size fits all, unfortunately. Nonprofit or LLC would be the platinum, top shelf choice. But those can get expensive to establish, depending on the state (for the US), and come with administrative overhead and regular paperwork and filings. Sole proprietorship / private partnership by agreement is perfectly fine, I think, to get started, until the need for a more advanced structure becomes clear.
