I recently had a journal send me a personal rejection with a personally signed note from the editor specifically asking for a new story as soon as possible, and the follow-up submission, a story I thought was pretty similar in terms of quality, themes, etc. got a form rejection. I'm like...is it possible that I'm getting worse?
